Welcome Back to Marty Indian School

Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,

We are excited to welcome you back to Marty Indian School for a new school year filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and success. This year, we are introducing new approaches to school management designed to enhance our school culture and climate, with a focus on student well-being, safety, and achievement.

To start the year strong, we have provided orientation time for students to become familiar with our updated handbooks. These sessions ensure that students have an opportunity to ask clarifying questions and fully understand expectations. We encourage parents, guardians, and community members to review both our Student Handbook and Athletic Handbook, which outline essential updates for the year. These can be found on the school’s website, or you can pick up a copy at the school.

Student safety remains one of our top priorities. We are committed to addressing bullying behavior through a collaborative effort between students, staff, and the community. This year, we are continuing structured conversations on bullying behavior, specifically highlighting commitments to not bullying others, helping those who are bullied, and including those who are left out. Also, committing to assisting others to make sure we never say, “ignore it”, that will never be a solution. We are telling students that if you know someone is being bullied, you should tell an adult at school and an adult at home. Our goal is to create an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and supported.

We know that consistent attendance is key to student success. To strengthen attendance, we have developed a more proactive intervention plan alongside an expanded incentive program. These incentives are designed to encourage positive, collaborative actions from students and to celebrate progress. By working together, we can support improved attendance.

At Marty Indian School, we believe that academic success is deeply connected to social and emotional growth. Through intentional daily practices and interventions, we are creating spaces where students learn not only academic skills but also how to interact respectfully, build resilience, and contribute positively to their school and community.

We look forward to working together with students, families, and community members to make this year meaningful and successful. Thank you for your continued support of Marty Indian School — together, we will continue to strengthen our school culture and provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

With excitement for the year ahead,

Corry Roberts, Superintendent
